The
Ethiopian Information Technology Professionals Association (EITPA)
OBJECTIVES
OF THE ASSOCIATION
1. To promote
the contribution of information technology for development of Ethiopia.
2. To promote the advancement of information technology in Ethiopia.
3. To promote computer literacy throughout the country.
4. To promote the professional interest of its members.
5. To promote the study and the practice of information technology
in the country's educational institution, processing centers and
other information technology development centers.
6. To promote research in information technology and to assist in
the dissemination of the findings of such research in Ethiopia.
7. To provide forum for the discussion of ideas and issues related
with the profession.
8. To promote professional contacts between EITPA and its counterparts
at home and abroad.
9. To influence and ensure, through code of practice, that information
technology services and products are up to standard.
10. To benefit its members with professional privileges and recognition.
MEMBERSHIP
There are five
membership types; members, associate members, institutional members,
student members and honorary members.
1. MEMBERS
a) Membership
is open to all Ethiopians and non-Ethiopians who satisfy at least
one of the following requirements: -
: University
degree and 1 year in computer programming, or computer maintenance
& networking
or
: Diploma in Computer Science Studies
or
: Diploma in Computer Engineering
or
: Diploma in Information Technology
or
: University Diploma and 3 years experience in computer programming,
systems analysis or engineering.
b) Members shall
pay a registration fee of birr 10 (ten) and an annual membership
fee of birr 48 (forty-eight) or the equivalent in convertible foreign
currency at the current exchange rate
2. ASSOCIATE
MEMBERS
a) Associate
membership is open to all Ethiopians and non-Ethiopians who are
competent in information technology & 3 years experience in
computer programming, systems analysis or engineering.
b) Associate
members could apply for full membership after being active associate
members for at least 3 years.
c) Associate
members shall pay a registration fee of Birr 10 (ten) and annual
membership fee of Birr 48 (forty-eight) or equivalent in convertible
foreign currency at the current exchange rate.
3. INSTITUTIONAL
MEMBERS
a) Institutional
membership is open to all Institutions within and outside the country
that subscribe to the objectives of the Association.
b) Institutional
members shall pay a registration fee of Birr 100 (one hundred) and
an annual membership fee of birr 500 (five hundred) or the equivalent
in convertible foreign exchange at the current exchange rate.
4. STUDENT MEMBERS
a) Student membership
is open to all students of computer/information science
b) Student members shall pay a registration fee of birr 1 (one birr)
and an annual membership fee of birr 6 (six birr).
5. HONORARY
MEMBERS
a) Honorary
membership is bestowed by the association on individuals who have
made a distinguished contribution to promote the objectives of the
Association.
B) Honorary
members are free from any form of payment
