About ICT Focus

ICT Focus Magazine, launched on February 2002, is the premier source for strategies and resources for the Information and Communications Technology sector. It is the first of its kind in Ethiopia and aims at providing a detailed analysis, view points, opinions and comments on the trends and future potential of ICT development in Ethiopia. It also presents up-to-date information on the quality of products and services currently available in the country.

AISI Media Awards Winner

On May 13th 2003, ICT Focus magazine received the first-ever AISI Media Award, organized by the Economic Commission for Africa, for which over 80 applications were submitted from all over Africa, in recognition of its outstanding work in print media that promotes the Information Society.

Writing Competition on ICTs

On the occasion of its first anniversary, ICT Focus has conducted a Writing Competition that focused on Information and Communications Technology especially for students. The contest was divided into three categories. The winners of the writing competition received prizes at a ceremony held at the Minilik Secondary School, on February 22, 2003.

INFOCOM 2004 Exhibition and Forum

In its effort to promote Information and Communications Technology for development (ICT4D), ICT Focus has organized the INFOCOM 2004 Exhibition and Forum held at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center from July 01 to 04, 2004. INFOCOM 2004 was the most important event on the local ICT calendar, bringing together over 50 companies from across Ethiopia, and abroad.
INFOCOM 2004 Forum provided and discussed essential information on a wide range of ICT issues, local content development, Internet, mobile technology, and Open Source Software. 

Ethiopian Best Website Awards

It is a recognition service to further develop and encourage creativity, quality design and usefulness in purpose for Web site owners and creators in Ethiopia. Best Websites Awards are granted to exemplary websites that are pursuing “best practices” in website design & Internet communications. This competition seeks to attract Web development companies, designers & programmers who are engaged in Website development.

Web sites, which exhibit exemplary intuition, graceful design, and usefulness in information and/or reliable business services, deserve to be recognized for their achievements and accomplishments.

The winners of the year 2004 contest were awarded during INFOCOM 2004 Exhibition, on July 4th, 2004.

New Media Awards

ICT Focus won the second prize for two consecutive years in the Corporate Category of the New Media Awards at the annual Highway Africa media conference at Rhodes University, South Africa, on September 11th 2007, and on September 11th 2008.
