Guideline for Article Contributors

Thank you for your interest in submitting articles for ICT Focus. It is the only magazine that focuses exclusively on Information and Communications Technology. Essential reading for executives, ICT professionals, and ICT users, ICT Focus is the premier publication for this domain.

Our editorial content includes:

News and analysis of what's happening in the ICT World
Products information (Software, Computers, Laptops, Printers, Servers, Digital Cameras, etc..)
Feature articles covering the latest trends and issues
Analysis on ICT and development/society
Regular columns and departments written by experts
Problem-solution and How-to articles

It's no secret–that ICT can have a dramatic impact on achieving specific social and economic development goals as well as play a key role in broader national development strategies if used in the right way and for the right purposes!

Our readers are a mix of professionals, executives and PC users who either need to purchase, utilize and manage ICT within the enterprise.

ICT Focus helps them by presenting a monthly editorial package of trend analysis, product information, informative profiles, and timely news. The magazine is about the technology, its use and its design and the editorial reflect this. The design is sharp, clean, and accessible, and so is the writing. The topics of all articles in all departments of ICT Focus must relate to the magazine’s editorial objective. You can help us accomplish this by delivering a well-researched, factually correct, and on-time manuscript.

Opportunities
There are plenty of writing opportunities in ICT Focus. We consider ideas for feature articles, news features, and short profiles.

Contributing
Send samples of your work to ICT Focus's director, Abraham Tameru, at publisher@ictfocus.info. When submitting be sure to include specific areas of interest and expertise. If you have a specific idea for an article, submit the idea accompanied by a brief outline of the topics you expect to cover. Unacceptable unsolicited manuscripts will not be returned.

Deadlines
Deadlines apply to all elements of an article. Lead time for actual production is about one to three months due to the rigorous editing, proofing, art and production efforts expended on each manuscript.

Rights
Authors will be asked to sign a publication agreement prior to the editing process, granting to the publisher the right to publish the article in ICT Focus magazine in print and electronic formats. The agreement also stipulates that the author shall not publish any version or excerpt of the article prior to, or for 120 days following, its publication.

Supporting Material
Please include a separate file of names and contact information for all sources quoted in the article. If you went through a PR contact, please include their info as well. This list will help the editors with fact and quote checking, and other follow-up questions and procedures.

Submission Requirements
Before submitting a manuscript, please use a spell checker. All parts of an article must be submitted in electronic format via email or on a diskette. Use as little formatting as possible in the manuscript since it must be removed and revised to suit our production requirements. Do not use a word processor's style sheets. All authors will have an opportunity for a final check of the article after they've been edited and copyedited. This check is only for minor proofing by the author; no extensive revisions or rewrites.

Style Guidelines
• Use subheads frequently to break up text and introduce a new section of the article. Don't make them too long, three or four words will suffice.

• Attributions are in the present tense, e.g., says or concludes, not said or concluded.

• Some preferred terms are as follows: Web, Internet, intranet, extranet, http://www.ecmag.net/About/, logoff, logon, MB (5MB), KB (5KB), ebook, dot com, ecommerce, Yahoo!, end-user, online (not on-line).

• Job titles are not capitalized, e.g., editor, vice president, president.

• At the end of each article, ICT Focus includes a brief sentence or two of author information. Be sure to submit with the manuscript your job title, email address, and city of employment.

Sidebars and Boxes
The editor will make suggestions for sidebar and box possibilities, but please keep in mind opportunities for short sidebars and boxes as you write the manuscript and discuss them with the editor as you think of them.

Reoccurring Sidebars and Boxes
For Feature Articles, include a list of URLs for all companies mentioned.

For Profiles:
Please make note of the following elements for a small box that is customarily included in each Profile: company URL, Name of Managing Director or founder, number of employees, date founded or launched.
