Discussions
on "Knowledge Outreach Programme" Conducted
According
to a news release from Computer Professionals United (CPU) College
of Business and Computer Technology, Ato Meaza Mekuria, System
Programmer and currently Managing Director of Axum Design and
Engineering Corporation in Boston, USA, delivered a lecture on
Data Base Access with Dynamic Link Library for the students and
the entire members of the College community on January 18, 2003
at its Sefere Selam Campus in Kolfe.
According
to information from the College, the “Knowledge Outreach
Programme” was intended to serve as a medium to disseminate
knowledge on different topics that have relevance to the general
audience. It was learnt that future presentations by guest lecturers
would generally depend on ICT topics to share experiences of other
countries that are gaining huge benefits from the sector. India,
who has started earning an annual revenue of almost $50 billion
from the ICT sector, has been cited as an example. It was hoped
that interested professionals and especially the young could benefit
a lot from the programme that is scheduled to be held every other
month.
The
news release also had it that Ato Meaza Mekuria was on his vacation
in Ethiopia when he willingly accepted the invitation to deliver
the discussion on a very short notice. We commend CPU’s
initiatives and appreciate the willingness of the guest presenter.
We hope other professionals will follow suit to volunteer for
presentations on topics of general interest for similar discussions
on knowledge dissemination.
